Drone Captures Man Changing Light Bulb

It’s a small chore to change a light bulb at home, but imagine doing that same task 1,500 feet above ground. This is something Kevin Schmidt has done thousands of times, but recently in Salem, South Dakota, a drone caught it on camera. Schmidt, who has worked for Sioux Falls Tower & Communications for the last eight years, does it all—from putting up towers to changing the light bulbs. The drone video was produced by Prairie Aerial, a group that was launched last year and takes professional aerial photography and videography throughout the Great Plains region. The director of the video, who also runs Prairie Aerial, Todd Thorin, knew the video was impressive but technically illegal as the FAA prohibits drones flying higher than 400 feet. It does show the breathtaking view from the top of the tower, for all of us who have no desire to take the risk. Take a look!
