Letter From the Editor: 5G Protest, Meet a Real Protest

Last Saturday was designated as an international day of protest against the 5G agenda. To prepare for the onslaught of radical activists, warnings went out of possible backlash against tower workers. As of Sunday afternoon, there were no reports of violence. And, not coincidentally, there were no reports of large crowds massing for their cause as a cursory look at the protest’s Facebook page indicated. A scroll down of groups posting photos (using 4G technology to do so….so no contradiction in philosophy there) showed scatterings of protesters around the world, practicing good separation policy, but no large rallies were in evidence.

Timing is everything in the protest “biz” and the anti-5G crowd may have met its match in staging their event during a pandemic. But wait, that didn’t stop millions worldwide for coming out for massive daily protests spanning eight days and counting for the death of George Floyd. So what’s the difference?

One is a sincere outpouring of rage on issues that have torn at the fabric of the United States since its inception. In other words, a real problem in real time, impacting both the American citizenry, the law enforcement community and the government on all levels. The other is dilettantes expressing opinions based on “numerous recent scientific publications” (according to the Stop5G website), a petition signed by 240 scientists worldwide, poor and inaccurate reporting, and excitable activists using questionable metrics and quirky devices.

To their credit, the sponsoring protest group Stop 5G International, picked up on NATE’s warning, covered in Inside Towers Friday issue, and mentioned it on their splash page.

“We do not condone the use of vandalism or violence,” the group stated on their website. “Our mission is to raise awareness about the effects of 5G and radiofrequency microwave radiation (wireless radiation) through evidence-based information and non-violent actions. Our protests have always been peaceful in keeping with the vision of Stop 5G International.

To help ensure Stop5G protests remain peaceful, Stop 5G International encourages protesters to document any incidents of vandalism to cell tower facilities. At the same time, we ask industry to produce a single study showing 5G is safe.”

Anyone care to send them the American Cancer Society study or the FDA report or the International Commission on Non‐Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) Report (Inside Towers, March 23, 2020: “5G Deemed Safe By International Experts”)?

Meanwhile, we at Inside Towers would like our readers to let us know of any violence, a real issue, that occurred in relation to this event. Send to editor@insidetowers.com.
