Angry Residents Get Overruled in Two-Minute Zoning Hearing

In just two minutes, the Rochester Zoning Board of Adjustment (ZBA) (New York) unanimously denied requests by a coalition of residents for rehearing a previously approved tower project, reported Fosters.com.

Back in February, the ZBA granted T-Mobile and Eco-Site a special exception for a 165-foot monopine project. Some residents are calling the decision “unreasonable and unlawful” and have concerns over the proposed site, as it runs through wetlands. These residents believe that other nearby sites will have less impact on those living in the community.

During the meeting, ZBA Vice Chair Robert Gates said, “I move that we deny the request for a rehearing because there’s no new evidence.”

Residents were appalled at the “beyond heartbreaking” outcome. Andrea Veal, a coalition spokesperson, said residents are prepared “take this matter to the next level.”
