Arcosa Telecom Structures: A Legacy of Great Customer Service

Arcosa Telecom Structures is an AISC certified fabricator of self-supporting towers, guyed towers, monopoles, and tower modifications. More than 60 people work at their Muskogee, OK plant, which covers 10 acres of storage, with 35,000 square feet devoted to manufacturing.

The company was founded in 1997 as Eastpointe Industries, with a primary focus on manufacturing lattice structures and tower modifications. In July 2020, the company was purchased by Arcosa, a publicly-traded company based in Dallas, TX, and was established as Arcosa Telecom Structures.  This new company falls within Arcosa’s Engineered Structures segment, which also includes Arcosa Wind Towers, Arcosa Traffic Structures, Arcosa Tank, and Arcosa/Meyer Utility Structures.

During the Eastpointe days, the company competed with much larger businesses and consistently succeeded in spite of that size differential.  There were limitations that existed, both in capabilities and in resources, but Eastpointe had a reputation for being the company you wanted to do business with.  This preference was largely because they were reliable and created a personal connection with their customers. Arcosa took a great foundation and added their corporate growth engine, which paved the way for the increases in market share that they are seeing today.

While describing the acquisition, Arcosa Telecom Structures spokesperson Michael Pelletier said, “You constantly hear stories about a great company being purchased, and things not staying great.  Being acquired by Arcosa has given us an enhanced supply chain and has expanded our access to capital.  We’re also able to lean on some of the other Arcosa divisions to add capabilities or increase capacity.  Lastly, we benefit from shared resources and a relentless focus on process improvement.  Through the acquisition, the customer experience hasn’t changed.  We’re still the company that people prefer to do business with.”

One of the new capabilities that Arcosa Telecom Structures gained was increased capacity to manufacture monopoles, which are mostly fabricated in a partnership with another Arcosa company, Meyer Utility Structures. “Monopoles are far and away, our fastest-growing segment,” Pelletier said. “We have extensive manufacturing capacity to support that growth.”

However, monopole manufacturing isn’t the only sector where Arcosa Telecom Structures is focused.  Intermediate capacity towers, that are optimized for non-cellular vertical markets, seem like an area where the marketplace is looking for better solutions.  Additionally, small cell/smart poles and concealment structures are being used extensively by existing customers.  Arcosa currently has the machinery and capacity available to expand manufacturing for all of these products.

Arcosa Telecom Structures has not forgotten what brought it this far. Even though the company now has access to the resources of a $2 billion corporation at its disposal, the personal connection with customers is still critically important. “We’re investing in our people, our facilities, machinery and process improvement as we continue to maintain our focus on the customer experience.” Pelletier said.

Newsweek has named Arcosa one of the 500 most responsible companies in America. “We feel like that’s a reflection of the effort we put forth to care for our employees, our customers, the environment, and just society in general. So, we feel like it’s a big honor. It says a lot about our company,” Pelletier said. For more information about Arcosa Telecom Structures, visit their website and connect with them on LinkedIn.
