OSHA is conducting their second annual National Safety Stand-Down to prevent falls in construction on May 4 – 15, 2015. Last year, the Safety Stand-Down was extremely successful with more than 1 million workers participating. This year, OSHA’s goal is for more than 20,000 Stand-Downs with 3 million workers. “OSHA’s National Safety Stand-Down presents a great opportunity for safety awareness and education to take place for every layer of the wireless industry chain from tower climbers, contractors, carriers, tower owners, OEM’s and turnkey/construction management firms,” said NATE Executive Director Todd Schlekeway. “NATE is encouraging our members and wireless industry stakeholders to actively participate in the Stand-Down and utilize the information and resources contained on the 100% Tie-Off 24/7 page on the Association’s website as part of their Stand-Down efforts,” added Schlekeway. The purpose of this campaign is to raise awareness of preventing fall hazards in construction. Fatalities from falls continue to be a leading cause of death for construction workers, accounting for 279 of the 806 construction fatalities recorded in 2012.
