Bidders Break Records in C-Band Auction

After 41 rounds, gross bids in the FCC’s auction of licenses in the lower portion of the C-band broke the $60 billion barrier. That compares to $59,382,863,500 in the previous round. FCC Chairman Ajit Pai said this week bidding figures were breaking agency records for spectrum auctions.

After round 41, gross bids were $61,720,224,783. After two rounds today, the auction will be paused for the holidays and then resume with five bidding rounds on January 4.

Fifty-seven qualified bidders in Auction 107 are vying for 5,684 new flexible-use overlay licenses based on Partial Economic Areas in the 3.7–3.98 GHz band for flexible use, including 5G.
