Birmingham, Shelby County and points beyond are preparing to welcome high speed broadband services to their communities. An announcement shared by Alabama News Center confirms that C Spire will be working with Alabama Power to bring 5G connectivity to several metropolitan areas within the state.

C Spire said it selected the city of Jasper, Alabama to be among the first of its roll out destinations.

Following the latest news of the added regions, C Spire CEO Hu Meena said, “Today is a big day in the life of our company. While we’ve had a presence in southern Alabama (Mobile) for decades and our Alabama headquarters are here in the Birmingham area, we plan to make our all-fiber broadband services available to homes and businesses across the state next year.”

“This is a great investment in the future of Birmingham and our metro area,” agreed an enthusiastic Mayor Randall Woodfin.

C Spire recently joined a group of 30 organizations that comprise the Alabama Rural Broadband Coalition. Expressing his support, State Senator Greg Reed affirmed, “As I’ve said before, no matter where they live, every single student, family, worker and business owner in Alabama should have access to fast, reliable internet that allows them to thrive in the 21st century economy. It’s through partnerships like this one that we are working to make that a reality.”
