David Downie Jr. age 51 of Atlanta, GA, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019, following a battle with cancer.
David served as the first President of the Georgia Wireless Association from 2004 to 2010 and was well known for his charisma and positive attitude. He began his career in telecommunications in 1995 at CAC and was a member of more than a dozen wireless associations during his 20-plus year tenure.
“David was a sweet soul who graced our industry throughout his successful career,” said WIA President and CEO Jonathan Adelstein. “He was loved by all of us he touched, and brought joy to everyone he met. His memory lives on in us, and the beautiful family he raised, as an example of the positive attitude and spirit to which we all aspire. The thoughts and prayers of all of us at WIA are with David’s family.”
The funeral mass to honor and celebrate the life of David Downie, Jr., will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Lilburn GA. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 8 from 6-9 p.m. at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel, Snellville, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at St. Jude’s in memory of David Downie Jr. Comments may be posted on a tribute page posted by his family.
