Industry Best Practices for Hoisting/Winching

Compliance companies/services are not just for verification of certificates of insurance. With the help of several people in different positions in the telecom industry, our goal is to help others understand why compliance companies are used and what are the advantages and disadvantages to the clients of compliance companies and to the vendors/contractors who are required to use the service if they want to work for specific companies. We hope to eliminate the frustration that many telecom contractors have by helping them to understand compliance companies.

Safety Sleeve Testing: Reviewing the Results and Highlighting the Use Cases and Applications

This session will review the overall scope, methodology, and results from the NATE sponsored Safety Sleeve Testing performed at the University of Dayton Research Institute in 2018 and 2019 by the NATE Safety Sleeve Testing Team. The Safety Sleeve Testing Team attempted to push the design limits and standards of the safety sleeves and test outside of the parameters established by ANSI/ASSE Z359. Therefore, most of the tests were performed for replication of real-world use and application. The test results presented should only be used to validate and reinforce existing safety procedures.

Unpacking the Repack: Examining the Current Status of the Broadcast Repack Transition in the U.S.

The broadcast repack activities in the industry continue to make progress at an efficient pace as more stations continue to move from their respective pre-auction channels. This informative session will conduct a deep dive on the broadcast repack transition by exploring the success stories and challenges from the unique perspectives of stakeholders representing the broadcasters, wireless carriers and tall-tower contractors.

Panelists will provide updates on the progress of the transition and examine how factors such as the availability of tower crews, antenna/equipment manufacturing output, weather and the complexity of projects have impacted the repack to date. The speakers will also highlight the important elements moving forward that must be accomplished in order to ensure that the last several phases of the repack transition are conducted safely, efficiently and in a timely manner.

When it is Safe to Work Around Federally Protected Migratory Birds

This session will cover what you should know about working at tower sites with migratory bird nests and what resources are available for retrieving information on species and nest status. We will discuss best practices for scheduling work based on bird activity and how to approach nest removals.
