Ericsson announced it will produce 5G and Advanced Antenna System radios in what they are calling a “5G Smart Factory” at a plant in Lewisville, TX. The telecom is looking to meet the demand for rapid 5G deployments in North America as well as boost network capacity and coverage.
The smart factory will begin commercial operations in early 2020 and will be powered by Ericsson 5G solutions tailored for the industrial environment.
Ericsson’s 5G industrial solutions include automated warehouses, connected logistics, automated assembly, packing and product handling, and the use of autonomous carts.
