The FCC established procedures and minimum opening bids for its auction of FM construction permits slated to begin in April 2020.

Auction 106 will offer 130 CPs. Thirty-four of those were offered but not sold or were defaulted upon in prior auctions. Bidding is due to begin on April 28. Before then, participants must meet several deadlines.

The Commission plans to hold a tutorial via internet by January 22. The Short-Form Application (FCC Form 175) Filing Window Opens January 29. The window closes at 6 p.m. on February 11. Upfront payments are due via wire transfer by 6 p.m. on March 20.

The Media Bureau won’t accept minor FM change requests during the upcoming Auction 106 application filing window. The so-called “freeze”from January 29, 2020 to February 11, 2020 — is so applicants can protect transmitter sites they’re interested in. This way, they won’t need to worry about technical changes made by stations not involved in the auction. “These temporary freezes are designed to avoid conflicts between the frozen filings and auction proposals, and to promote a more certain and speedy auction process,” said the Media Bureau.

A list of the 130 available FM construction permits, with the minimum bid necessary for each of these channels, is available here.
