Penton’s International Wireless Communication Expo (IWCE), the premier annual event for communications technology professionals, officially announced that Dr. Preston Marshall, Technical Program Manager, Spectrum Access Technology from Google will keynote the event. IWCE will celebrate its 40th anniversary when it takes place March 27-31, 2017 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. To register to attend, click here.

On Wednesday, March 29 at 8:30 a.m. Dr. Marshall will discuss the US experience in deploying shared spectrum services in the 3.5 GHz Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) band and what it may warn for future wireless architectures and technology. The innovative band concept has enabled the emergence of a unique ecosystem, focused on high capacity, localized wireless services that are deployed by a wide range of non-traditional wireless suppliers, such as enterprises, and venues. The emergence of these neutral host networks is potentially a fundamental change in how wireless is designed, managed, and deployed. From the spectrum perspective, the transition from monolithic to heterogeneous network deployments opens up alternatives to current exclusive, long-term licensing of spectrum; can create massive increases in spectrum sharing opportunities; and is enabled by automated, cloud-based processes that can reduce the time, uncertainty, and cost of making spectrum sharing arrangements.

The IWCE General Session will take place Thursday, March 30
at 8:30 a.m. Entitled “Everything is Changing – The Next Generation of Connectivity,” the session will be moderated by Donny Jackson, Editor, IWCE’s Urgent Communications. Jackson will be joined by a group of panelists to forecast what the future holds for communications technology including applications, devices, networks, technology and connectivity.

“Our industry has evolved over the past 40 years from a dealer only show to a communications technology event that brings together dealers as well as private radio and wireless systems operators and large volume commercial, industrial, and public safety communications end-users. We are committed to nurturing IWCE’s legacy while continuing to progress with new innovative education, technologies and services,” said Stephanie McCall, Show Director, IWCE. “Our four decades of experience is a testament to our commitment to this industry. We are excited to celebrate this significant event with IWCE participants this spring in Las Vegas.”

IWCE 2017 offers five days of unparalleled professional development opportunities through keynote addresses, workshops, short courses and training, providing the foundation for technology, operations, engineering and governance for communications technology networks, systems and services as well as a robust Exhibit Hall with 380 exhibitors showcasing the latest products and trends in the industry. IWCE will also be co-located with ETA International’s Education Forum.
