What I Learned at NATE Unite 2018

Beyond the terrific trade show and the speakers who gave us instruction on the latest trends and industry acronyms, I learned a bunch in Nashville, Tennessee.

Similar to most folks around me, I like to learn by methods that are easy to recall and simple to repeat.

In other industries where a complex series of actions must be remembered in order, people use acrostics. This is where the first letter of each sentence or action relates to a letter of a word.

T – Together. When we gather in one place and spend time together searching for the same thing, like safety; we begin to experience the unity that only comes from common goals that reflect our desire for going in the same direction. This kind of unity strengthens relationships and forms better outcomes because we are all seeking similar positive outcomes.

O Organization. We have all watched as NATE has grown in influence and provided more value to our members. This has occurred because of the efforts by a better organization. Our NATE Administrative Staff is doing a better job than ever before. Our committees are accomplishing things that would have been foreign just a few years ago. Your Board of Directors is committed and thinking outside the box to deliver a superior organization.

WWisdom. Our founders at NATE set the direction and the course so that we have been able to focus on a core mission that has tower erection firms protecting our climbers. That’s what NATE is and we should never apologize for it. We are thankful for the wisdom that allows us to add momentum to a wise vision of who we are.

E Enrichment. NATE has increased the benefit to our members through many initiatives and enhancements during the past few years. It becomes hard to keep track of them all. Tower Family Foundation, NWSA, Climber Connection video series, WIN Grass Roots Network, enhanced D.C. presence and the list goes on. Your NATE dollars have been enriched without being increased. We intend for the value to grow further!

RReward. We say thank you! You and your employees are appreciated and the staff, volunteers and especially your volunteer Board of Directors cherish the trust you have given us to manage your Associations’ affairs on your behalf. This has shown up in a tangible way as we say thanks by recognizing effort with annual awards and incentives for members.

SSafety.  Safety has been the number one driving objective since day one. There is no sense in changing that now!

TOWERS – The thing I learned was Towers: Together we are Organized with Wisdom from the past and the energy from Enrichment and Reward to deliver the technology of the future Safely.

We are NATE, The National Association of TOWER Erectors!
