The 2019 Mobile World Congress (MWC) runs from February 25 to 28 in Barcelona at the Fira Gran Via. The event launches with With 59 conference sessions, totalling 62 hours of content and from 330 speakers, 43 percent, according to the show’s website, of CEO-level ranking. The speakers come from 40 countries from all over the world, making MWC is a truly global event.

Covering a world view of connectivity issues, 5G will be one of the event’s central themes. Sessions focusing on the topic include:

  • What’s Keeping Operator CTOs up at Night?
  • The Edge Computing Opportunity: Intelligent and Distributed
  • Debate: “5G deployments in high-frequency bands are uneconomic”
  • 5G Devices: When Will they be Ready?

MWC’s description of the 5G theme states the next wave of deployment will require an expanded community of network infrastructure, both in public and private ownership, “to usher in truly ubiquitous broadband applications and services to anyone, anywhere, in real-time. That opens up new forms of business and operational relationships with infrastructure owners and stakeholders large and small.”
