The Wireless Infrastructure Association (WIA) and the National Association of Tower Erectors (NATE) said Thursday the Telecommunications Industry Registered Apprenticeship Program (TIRAP) Board elected NATE Chairman Jimmy Miller to join as a member.

“I am excited to serve as NATE’s representative on the TIRAP Board of Directors,” said Jimmy Miller, President and CEO, MillerCo Inc. “Apprenticeship-based training is tailor-made for the wireless infrastructure industry and I look forward to collaborating with the TIRAP Board and stakeholders from the public and private sectors to help achieve the industry’s workforce development needs by expanding the number of participating companies and workers involved in the program.”

“TIRAP is thrilled to welcome Jimmy to our board as we work toward our priority of building a trained and safe telecommunications workforce through apprenticeships,” said TIRAP Chairperson Paul Roberts, Vice President, Compliance, American Tower Corporation. “TIRAP is eager to expand its industry-wide collaboration for the common goal of training the wireless workforce, which will support the growing demand for wireless infrastructure deployment.”

“The wireless workforce can develop and expand more rapidly through on-the-job, hands-on apprenticeship learning, and we look forward to working with Jimmy and NATE to build support throughout the telecommunications industry,” said Grant Seiffert, TIRAP Executive Director and WIA’s Vice President of Workforce Development. “Jimmy brings deep respect, a breadth of experience, and strong legacy of leadership to the TIRAP Board, and his industry involvement will be important for developing the 5G workforce.”
