The National Association of Tower Erectors (NATE) was a key participant at today’s Northeast Wireless Safety Summit (NEWSS) in Fairfield, New Jersey. The NEWSS event is designed to bring awareness about the issue of safe work practices to the wireless telecom industry. Over the past three years, the event has evolved and is now powered by Turnkey Safety Solutions (TSS), a safety training and consulting firm.

During the summit, NATE Executive Director Todd Schlekeway delivered a presentation entitled Workforce Development Strategies for Attracting Millennials to a Rewarding Career in Wireless. Major themes that emerged from NATE’s presentation included an overview of the factors contributing to the current robust work cycle and subsequent worker shortage, the 3rd party outreach NATE is engaging in with prominent national organizations to facilitate workforce development, recruiting strategies for employers to implement within their respective companies and the Association’s targeted communications and platforms that are specifically designed to appeal to millennial workers.

During his remarks, Schlekeway also unveiled the new NATE “Elevate Wireless” workforce pamphlet that is designed to promote the profession and be utilized as an effective worker recruitment tool for member companies. The NATE “Elevate Wireless” brochure includes a section where companies can place their contact information in to utilize during their outreach. The “Elevate Wireless” marketing pamphlet is available for NATE member companies to purchase here.  Member companies interested in purchasing this valuable resource must login to the members section of the website to submit their order.

“Workforce development has emerged as a top priority for NATE and the Northeast Wireless Safety Summit provided a great platform to discuss some of the Association’s initiatives aimed at expanding the labor pool of qualified workers,” said NATE Board of Directors Member Kevin Dougherty from New Castle, Delaware. “ I would like to thank the organizers of the event for making worker safety and quality a theme throughout today’s conference,” added Dougherty.
