NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association Monday issued the following statement from Chief Executive Officer Shirley Bloomfield regarding the cancellation of its live meeting of the 2020 Legislative & Policy Conference, which was scheduled to take place April 19-21 in Washington, D.C.
“Based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention encouraging organizations to reschedule events with 50 or more people for the next eight weeks in response to COVID-19, we have been forced to cancel the live meeting of our 2020 Legislative & Policy Conference. At this time, we are exploring the option of hosting a virtual conference instead.”
Bloomfield continued: “Our members have committed to keeping their communities safe and connected in the wake of this pandemic and we will continue to support them with online educational opportunities and resources from local, state and national authorities. We are communicating often with our members, compiled a list of coronavirus resources and set up a dedicated web page for frequent updates. In addition, we will host a webcast about business continuity considerations for small telecom providers this week, and we are exploring providing additional online education in coming weeks.”
“We continue to monitor the situation and work with our members to keep our country connected and safe in this time of need,” she stated.
