Proteus Services announced yesterday they have partnered with Texas A&M University as the wireless eco-system owner and provider for commercial wireless networks throughout the RELLIS Campus. The arrangement, with Proteus serving as the wireless network builder and operator for the campus, is a result of the company winning an open RFP from the Texas A&M University System, in December 2019.

This wireless network will be open to all commercial wireless operators as a neutral host system, allowing wireless operators to provide their network services to the faculty, staff, students, and visitors to the campus. This wireless network includes indoor and outdoor distributed antenna systems and small cells.

”We are excited to have commercial cellular providers on the campus to help provide the latest cellular communication protocols to our students, faculty and RELLIS partners,” said Brad Hoover, Chief Information Officer of the RELLIS Campus. “This will allow access to the latest technologies in our continued mission of providing the best environment to educate students and to develop solutions for real life problems that we develop on a daily basis.”

Wanda Kielty, President of Proteus Services said, “Being an agnostic operator of the commercial wireless ecosystem on the RELLIS Campus will allow for all commercial carriers to be able to come on to the campus and serve their customers and help them experience all that this research campus can offer.”
