It appears the FCC will be back up to full strength today. Plans are to swear-in Geoffrey Starks before this morning’s monthly meeting, reports Politico.

The Senate confirmed Starks to his first term as a commissioner this month, after the shutdown started. Starks fills the empty seat left by former Democratic Commissioner Mignon Clyburn. Starks was an Assistant Chief in the Enforcement Bureau.

The agency is obligated to hold a monthly meeting, however this morning’s will be bare-boned. No votes are scheduled, because the employees that would normally help the Commissioners work on issues, were furloughed as of January 4.

Monday, FCC employees came back to a huge backlog. For example, the agency posted several thousand comments filed from the last few days to its Electronic Comment Filing System as of Tuesday.

An HBO camera crew followed FCC Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel as the agency opened on Monday. She tells them in this video, the Commission is still trying to figure out what issues to tackle first, as workers begin to dig out from under the mountain of work that piled up.  Comments? Email Us.
