The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS)’s New York Field Office (in Cortland, NY) is asking for direct industry input on the Proposed Action portion of their DRAFT FCC Biological Assessment document. The agency has recruited DIEHLUX and Dynamic Environmental Associates to poll industry leaders who maintain infrastructure in the state for feedback.
The FWS is developing an FCC Programmatic Agreement for Telecommunication installations relative to Section 7 (endangered species) consultation applicability and adverse effect determinations.The FWS began this process in 2016. Feedback is needed by July 8 so a report can be presented on July 14.
In a letter addressed to carriers and telecom infrastructure developers, Adrian Berezowsky, Vice President of Dynamic Environmental Associates, Inc., said, “Your experience and direct industry feedback are invaluable during this endeavor, particularly when it comes to providing as much information as possible.”
Berezowsky said the agency is looking for information based on the following parameters:
- Components of typical developments of various project types
- Species most often of a concern for your telecom projects
- Previously implemented conservation measures for various types of species
- Reality behind getting a project constructed and on-line
“The goal is to help this become a truly helpful working document for everyone,” Colin Dieh, COO and Co-Founder of DIEHLUX, LLC said, “including FCC and FWS, as it will help streamline project reviews and provide documentation of compliance with applicable exemptions.”
