Texas Winds Twist Tower to the Ground

A tower in Abilene owned by the Texas Department of Transportation was found Wednesday morning, bent in half by winds that knocked down trees and powerlines.   The site of unknown height, located on N. Clack Street, was said to go down around 2 a.m., according to the TxDOT.

The National Weather Service website, showed winds at 1:52 a.m. were out of the west at 22 mph with a gust of 54 mph registered while a thunderstorm moved through.
