“Tie Tuesday” is About More Than Dressing Up

“Tie Tuesday” was an initiative created to start a conversation about safety and to encourage others to support the Hubble Foundation. Robert McCoy, Quality Assurance Manager, Corporate Tower Operations at Crown Castle posted on LinkedIn recently to spread the word.

“Our team wanted to show professionalism and respect for the workplace, so we decided to wear ties on Tuesdays. This is not an uncommon thing in Engineering. However, we wanted to use the ties to start a conversation for a greater good, as we always get asked about why we are wearing them. So we chose The Hubble Foundation. Several of us spent our careers on the tower, and we still train crews that climb every day. The Hubble Foundation was the perfect fit for our giving goals for the year,” said McCoy.

Hubble Foundation is dedicated to promoting the support and assistance to families of fallen telecommunications technicians, as well as to the safety of workers at elevation. Most importantly, Hubble Foundation is a place that families can contact for love, support, and other assistance after the death of a loved one. It is a place where workers and site personnel can contact with complete anonymity about any questions or concerns, and to report violations within their industry that place their lives, and the lives of other workers in jeopardy.

McCoy has a broad background in tower engineering, construction, tower inspections, and operations management. Crown’s QA team trains, audits, and drives improvement within the company and industry to ensure long term asset reliability.

You don’t have to be a climber to support the cause. You too, can “tie off.” For more information or to donate, click here.
