WISPA is Part of Hot Wireless Spectrum Issues

Claude Aiken came to the Wireless Internet Service Providers Association (WISPA) a little over a year ago from the FCC to lead the organization as President and Chief Executive Officer. WISPA’s approximately 800 members are composed of fixed Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISPs) and the industry that supports fixed wireless broadband, including equipment suppliers, support services, and other components needed to run a successful business. Its members and WISPs, in general, provide broadband access to over four million residential and business customers, often in exclusively rural areas.

Aiken tells Inside Towers Washington Bureau Chief Leslie Stimson in a podcast interview, one of his goals is to elevate the visibility of the organization and its members. Indeed, WISPA is involved in some of the major spectrum policy issues being debated by regulators today, including the initial commercial launch of the Citizens Broadband Radio Service and the debate over how much C-band spectrum to re-purpose for wireless use.
