In New Canaan, CT the Utilities Commission voted to complete a two-phrase study to measure the wireless coverage throughout the town. The reason for this study is to provide the town with hard data so it can participate in conversations with the wireless carriers in order to work together to improve coverage in the town. “The idea is to give the town independent data it can use in determining its options for where to put up cell towers and what’s needed to improve coverage,”  Utilities Commission member Tom Tesluk told the Advertiser. The first part of this study will be a “drive test,” where engineers will drive every street in town measure the wireless service reception for each carrier. According to Tesluk, the study also would address wireless signal capacity.
