Deutsche Telekom (NYSE: DT) is set to unveil its “cell tower to go” at the upcoming Digital X 2023 event on September 20 and 21, in Cologne, Germany. WebWire reported that the new mobile transmission mast is significantly smaller, lighter, and more flexible than previous versions, allowing for quick setup by one person in less than one hour.
The compact structure (5.24 feet long by 6.56 feet wide by 8.5 feet high) is easy to transport and supports 5G and 4G LTE. The antennas can be extended up to a height of 26.24 feet. A local power supply or other mobile energy source can power the device.
WebWire reported that the mobile mast is intended for temporary purposes, including new development areas and large construction sites, as well as for events (festivals), applications in agriculture, or areas prone to natural disasters.
“The new micro-container provides even more scope for short-term mobile Communications needs, regardless of time and place. After successful practical tests, we are presenting the innovative and particularly flexible mobile coverage solution to our business customers in live operation for the first time at Digital X,” says Hagen Rickmann, Managing Director of Business Customers at Telekom Deutschland GmbH.
The micro-container was first tested in August 2023, at the Nibirii Festival in Düren, Germany, with over 30,000 electronic music fans. Beginning November 1, interested companies can try the device for free for up to six weeks. The pilot period ends March 31, 2024.
