5G World – Postponed until September 1-3, 2020
ACA Connects – Dates TBD
America’s Communications Association represents nearly 700 small and medium-sized independent operators comprised of cable, phone, and fiber-to-the-home operators and municipalities. It’s postponed its 27th annual March convention in Washington, D.C. due to the coronavirus.
The show was to have taken place March 17-19. Instead, the event will be postponed. Polka did not have a date when the summit would be rescheduled, but said ACA Connects would announce one as soon as possible.
AGL – April Event Cancelled
AGL announced the cancellation of their April 9 Summit in Atlanta. President and COO of AGL, Rick Heilbrunn, said after monitoring the state of Covid-19 the consensus was the risk to the attendees to the event was considered very low. “Nevertheless,” Heilbrunn said, “we would like to make sure we take the best action pertaining to it and maintain sensitivity to our attendees, speakers, and vendors.”
“With the government recommendations in mind, we will be postponing our Atlanta Summit, originally planned for April 9, 2020,” he said. “Before we made our final decision, we reached out to our summit partners and received important feedback. This feedback has determined our final decision to reschedule our upcoming summit.”
Heilbrunn said once they have confirmation of the exact dates for the new AGL Atlanta Summit, they will post their decision.
APCO 2020 – Cancelled
APCO Nexus – Postponed to May 18, 2021
In response to the COVID-19 virus and for the safety and welfare of everyone, APCO said its Nexus event originally slated for May 21-22, 2020, in Washington, D.C., has been rescheduled to May 18-19, 2021. The location remains the same. APCO’s Public Safety Communications Leadership in Policy Awards Dinner has been rescheduled to May 18, 2021, in the same location, the Westin Washington, D.C. City Center.
AUVSI XPONENTIAL 2020 will now take place entirely as a virtual event over the planned dates of October 5 – 8
CCA Mobile Carriers Show – Cancelled. Next show will be this Fall.
CCA issued the following announcement, “In light of the coronavirus pandemic and additional factors outside of our control, CCA’s 2020 Mobile Carriers Show will have to be cancelled. The health and safety of our attendees is of the utmost importance, and we look forward to our show this fall.”

ConnectX – Live show replaced with Virtual Event
One of the industry’s major conferences, WIA’s Connect (X), has been cancelled…at least the live event in Miami has. In keeping with the theme of bringing the world together via wireless connectivity, the show will go on however, and be rebranded as “Connect (X): All Access. The date has been set for May 19, according to the WIA press release.
WIA President and CEO Jonathan Adelstein spoke with Inside Towers yesterday about the new format. “We want to serve the role of bringing the industry together,” Adelstein said. “This is a crucial time, and we still want to bring top industry leaders together to discuss the challenges we face, workforce development, trends in capex and more.” Continue Reading

Edge Europe 2020 – Rescheduled for June 2-4, 2020
Edge Europe 2020 has relocated to Monaco. BroadGroup the producers of Edge Europe, due to take place in Frankfurt/Mainz on March 26, has made the decision to relocate the event to the Datacloud Global Congress, Monaco, June 2-4,2020. A statement from BroadGroup Media:
“After close consultation with our customers and partners we have taken the decision to postpone Edge Europe and integrate the event into the Edge Forum day at Datacloud Global, in Monaco, June 2-4,” commented Philip Low, Chairman, BroadGroup.
“By integrating into the Edge Forum on June 2, we aim to make the transition for our audience, sponsors and speakers as smooth as possible and deliver an event which brings together the entire ecosystem of the Edge and datacentre sector ensuring even wider exposure is given to this emerging critical market.
This decision has been taken in light of the current Covid-19 outbreak – the health of our customers, partners and team is of paramount importance and our planned approach will provide the best way for Broadgroup to serve its market at this time of unprecedented volatility.”

ITU Reschedules Key Conferences – Details Below
Given the global COVID-19 outbreak, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and its partners have decided to postpone the dates for four upcoming meetings. The World Information Society Forum was originally set for April, and will now run from August 31 to September 4. The AI for Good Global Summit was originally slated for May, and will now take place from September 21 to 25. Both events will take place at the same venue – the ITU Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
Open only to representatives of member states, sector members and to chairmen and vice-chairmen of study groups, the Telecommunication Development Advisory Group originally scheduled to be held from March 24 to 27, is postponed until June 2 to 5. Likewise, the 17th World Telecommunication/ICT Indicators Symposium, originally planned for April 15 to 17, will also be postponed and new dates will be communicated shortly. The dates and venue for the Global Symposium for Regulators (September 1 – 3) remain unchanged.
The Swiss government put into effect a ban on large-scale events which involve more than 1,000 people. The ban is slated to last until March at the earliest and the upcoming weeks are uncertain at best, according to the ITU. In response, ITU and its partners are proactively shifting event dates.
IWCE – Rescheduled for August 24-28, 2020
Iconic industry conference organizer IWCE announced the cancellation of its upcoming March 30-April 2 trade show in Las Vegas. Stephanie McCall, IWCE Show Director, said, “after close consultation with our partners in the industry, we have made the difficult decision to postpone IWCE 2020. With the rapidly developing circumstances and in light of corporate travel considerations continuing to escalate, we’ve worked as quickly as possible to explore our options. The intention is to announce a new date shortly. Exhibitors and attendees will be contacted with further information regarding booth contracts and registrations.”
IWCE 2020 will now take place on August 24-28, 2020 at the Las Vegas Convention Center (South Halls 1-2) in Las Vegas, Nevada. ETA’s Education Forum will also be rescheduled to take place at this time.
Mobile World Congress Barcelona – Event Cancelled
MWC Barcelona is an annual trade show organized by GSMA, dedicated primarily to the mobile communications industry. The event, cancelled for 2020 due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
NAB – Launching NAB Show Express (Digital) in April 2020, expanding NAB Show New York (October 16-17, 2020)
One of the largest and longest running trade industry events, the NAB Show, nearing a century of continuous service to the broadcast industry, has postponed its upcoming conference. NAB President/CEO Gordon Smith yesterday issued the following letter to attendees regarding plans for the event in light of coronavirus concerns:
“Keeping the community safe and healthy is NAB’s highest priority; therefore, we are deferring to the developing consensus from public health authorities on the challenges posed by coronavirus,” Smith said. “We are still weighing the best potential path forward, and we ask you for your patience as we do so. We are committed to exploring all possible alternatives so that we can provide a productive setting where the industry can engage with the latest technology, hear from industry thought leaders and make the game-changing connections that drive our industry forward.”
The event typically draws more than 90,000 attendees. It was planned for Saturday, April 18, through Wednesday, April 22, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

NTCA Cancels Live Meeting of 2020 Legislative & Policy Conference
NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association Monday issued the following statement from Chief Executive Officer Shirley Bloomfield regarding the cancellation of its live meeting of the 2020 Legislative & Policy Conference, which was scheduled to take place April 19-21 in Washington, D.C.
“Based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention encouraging organizations to reschedule events with 50 or more people for the next eight weeks in response to COVID-19, we have been forced to cancel the live meeting of our 2020 Legislative & Policy Conference. Small Cells World Summit – Rescheduled for September 29-30, 2020
The Small Cells World Summit slated for May 12-13 in London has been canceled and the event is being rescheduled for September 29-30, 2020 at the same venue, Novotel London West.
Event planners issued the following statement: “Following feedback from an ever-increasing number of member companies now facing travel bans as a result of the spread of COVID-19, the SCF Executive Board have made the decision to reschedule Small Cells World Summit, which will now be held September 29-30, 2020, at the same venue in London. We have been keen to make this decision in advance to avoid cancelling closer to the event and impacting on people’s travel and paid bookings. We can confirm our current sponsors are fully supportive of this development and will be joining us in September. We are confident these new dates will enable more delegates to attend and benefit from the multiple networking and learning opportunities available.”
South Wireless Summit – Rescheduled for March 2021
STAC 2020 – Dates TBD
The STAC 2020 Conference & Exhibition, scheduled to open March 31, in Vancouver, has been postponed due to the ongoing outbreak of COVID-19. CWTA and the STAC Steering Committee issued an announcement Thursday saying they will be working to determine a make-up date and clarify the refund policy in the coming weeks. A further update to attendees will be communicated as soon as possible.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, stayed tuned in the weeks ahead for further updates,” Nick Kyonka, STAC Program Director.
Texas Wireless Association Golf Outing – Cancelled
The Texas Wireless Association (TXWA) announced, due to health concerns, the cancellation of their April 15-16 golf outing/social. The association announced plans for their Fall Social and Charity Golf Outing for Wednesday, October 7 at Texican Court and Bear Creek Golf Club in Dallas. Those who have already booked rooms at the Texican under TXWA’s room block will automatically be moved to new dates. Anyone with additional questions can contact [email protected].
TowerXchange Events Postponed Until Second Half of the Year
In a press release on Friday, TowerXchange announced the cancelation of their upcoming shows until later in 2020. TowerXchange Meetup Europe, set for May 19-20, in Barcelona, and the TowerXchange Meetup Americas, planned for June 23-24, in Boca Raton will be rescheduled. For other events:
- The ESCO Roundtable, previously scheduled to take place on March 24 and 25, in Casablanca, has also been postponed and will now be co-located with the TowerXchange Meetup Africa on October 13 and 14, in Johannesburg.
- The TowerXchange Meetup Asia remains scheduled for December 8-9, in Singapore.
- Next year’s TowerXchange Meetup MENA remains scheduled for January 26-27, in Dubai.
“We have not taken this decision lightly but the wellbeing of our customers, partners and team is of paramount importance, and we appreciate the trust they have placed in us in supporting the event,” TowerXchange stated in the release.
Wireless Connect – Rescheduled for September 3, 2020
Wireless Connect 2020 at the University of Maryland has been postponed to September 3, due to the coronavirus. UMD is one of more than 100 universities shifting to online instruction, USA Today reported. Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan Thursday banned gatherings of 250 or more people.
The event is organized by the Wireless Connect team and co-hosted by TSAN, the Telecommunications Students and Alumni Network of the University of Maryland and the MD-DC Wireless Association. Current registration and sponsorships will be honored at the September event, according to a notice from organizers.
Wireless West Conference – Postponed, Virtual Conference on April 28
The Wireless West Conference, scheduled for April 19-21, in La Jolla, CA, has been postponed. Event handlers announced that all tickets and sponsorships will roll over and apply to next year’s conference and advised attendees and if they booked their own hotel room directly with the venue, to contact the hotel to cancel. All others with questions are directed to contact [email protected].
The postponement announcement stated they will hold a Virtual One-Day Conference on April 28, with details to come.
The conference was created by four wireless associations spanning the west coast, the California Wireless Association, Arizona Wireless Association, Nevada Wireless Association and Colorado Wireless Association
WISPAMERICA – Will be a virtual show. More details to follow.
WISPAMERICA, which was to take place today through March 20th in Dallas, is cancelled. The Wireless Internet Service Providers Association said the in-person event was cancelled, “due to the evolving nature of the coronavirus and concern for the safety of our attendees. In its place, WISPAMERICA 2020 will be a virtual show. Details will be forthcoming soon.” Organizers said the event would have hosted over 1,000 attendees and exhibitors.
