Franklin County and Motorola Solutions Work Together

There’s been spotty public safety communication in Franklin County, Virginia, these past few years. However, that is all about to change because the county has entered into an agreement with Motorola Solutions to enhance communication services in the area. Motorola’s offer was one of three proposals the county received during the bidding process, and was chosen as the winner earlier this week. Motorola Solutions agreed not to exceed the $11.25 million budget the county had set for the project. The current public safety communications system only covers 60% of the county, and officials realized they needed to enhance the technology in case of emergency situations. The company will construct eight cell towers with shelters, antennas, and generators to upgrade the county’s communications system.
