Michigan Tower Down

The WYKX, Kix Country radio tower collapsed in Escanaba, MI, earlier this week. Radio officials said that the top portion of the 400-foot tower snapped during severe storms, and the station is currently operating atop a tower located at the Harbor Tower apartment complex. “At this point in time, we don’t know when the new tower is going to be completely constructed,” said WYKX news director, Craig Woerpel. “We just ask for the patience of those in the outlying areas that aren’t getting the signal right now, especially in the Iron Mountain area and southern Menominee Counties where we have a lot of loyal listeners.” (Upper Michigans Source) The damaged tower and equipment is valued at $125,000.
