NAB Executive Vice President of Communications Dennis Wharton said Thursday that Zamir Ahmed, NAB director, Media Relations, has been promoted to vice president, Media Relations. Ahmed joined NAB in February 2011 as manager, Media Relations, following a two-year stint as deputy press secretary for the House Committee on Small Business. He began his career in Washington as an intern in the office of Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) in 2008. Ahmed was promoted to senior manager, NAB Media Relations in July 2014, and director, Media Relations in July 2016.

As vice president, Media Relations, Ahmed will help shape public policy messaging for NAB Communications and be an occasional spokesman for trade and consumer press. He will continue to report to Wharton and will work closely with Ann Marie Cumming, NAB senior vice president, Communications.
