Audacy has a new tower site location for its two AM signals in Chicago — WSCR (670 kHz) and WBBM (780 kHz). The company has proposed to the FCC moving to the same location as Salem Media Group’s WYLL-AM (1160 kHz), where two additional towers aren’t in use.

Audacy is selling the nearly 26-acre property from which WSCR and WBBM currently transmit for an estimated $18 million, according to Inside Radio. The company began placing some of its assets into a holding company, Audacy Atlas in 2023. The Chicago property was one of several tower sites offered for sale (including New York, Missouri and Minneapolis) ahead of the company entering Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.

In its construction permit application, Audacy says it would operate WSCR and WBBM from a tower that was used as part of the WYLL nighttime directional array but has been unused since Salem moved WYLL’s nighttime operation to a separate site, according to Inside Radio.

WSCR would remain at 50,000 watts day and night, while WBBM would increase its transmission power to 45,000 watts day and 43,000 watts night. The station currently transmits 35,000 watts day and 42,000 watts night.
