AT&T has decided to drop their plans to install wireless equipment in an existing tower at St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Laguna Beach, California. The carrier withdrew their application after opposition from neighbors. Communications director for AT&T California, Alexandra Krasov, noted that AT&T has faced resident opposition before when building sites, and the company always tries to talk and with them to address concerns. But the community members couldn’t be swayed and the Laguna Beach Planning Commission officially signed off on AT&T’s withdrawal. The church had not entered into a formal contract with AT&T, and now other sites in the city are being considered for the AT&T equipment.
