The broadcast tower for radio station WFXN-FM 102.3 “The Fox” in Galion was not able to weather the Labor Day storms that spawned an EF-2 tornado, according to Crawford County Now.

The tower, located on North Market Street south of US 30 in Galion, completely collapsed. A separate tower for the long-silent WGLX-AM 1570 also sustained damage, but remained standing. No one was hurt.

WFXN originally signed-on November 8, 1974, as WQLX. The station is now owned by iHeartMedia and operated remotely from iHeart’s studios in Mansfield. The towers themselves are owned by Vertical Bridge Holdings, LLC in Boca Raton, FL.
