Regulatory Fee Deadline Extended for Fiona-Impacted Payors

UPDATE Carriers, broadcasters and other industries regulated by the FCC who are impacted by Hurricane Fiona have more time to file their annual agency regulatory fees.

The FCC says Hurricane Fiona caused significant damage within its path, including storm surge, wind damage, mudslides, and flooding. “It also has caused substantial damage to the communications network, resulting in service disruptions and outages throughout areas in Puerto Rico,” the agency says.

That’s why the Commission is extending the Fiscal Year 2022 regulatory fee deadline date for those payors in the affected areas of Puerto Rico from 11:59 p.m., Eastern Daylight Time, on September 28, to 11:59 p.m, Eastern Daylight Time, on September 30. For all other regulatory fee payors, i.e., those not affected by Hurricane Fiona, tomorrow’s deadline (September 28) remains in effect. The Communications Act and the Commission’s rules govern the late payment or non-payment of regulatory fees. Regulatory fee payors affected by Hurricane Fiona who anticipate they might experience challenges with meeting the extended payment date, or have questions, may contact Sanford Williams, Deputy Managing Director, at 202-418-1508 or sanford.williams@fcc.gov.
