Rohde and Schwarz held a new webinar last week titled, “Mobile Network Testing: 5G Site Testing Including Latest Real World Challenges,” which highlighted the importance of 5G site testing and how it provides the end-user with the required Quality of Experience (QoE), as well as keeping 5G emissions below the limits.

The webinar, which featured Manuel Mielke, Product Manager, Drive Test Scanners, and Peter Busch, Expert, Mobile Network Testing, examined the importance of site acceptance testing, identified various deployment scenarios, and defined an efficient methodology to test the associated key performance indicators (KPIs).

“The aim is to ensure the delivery of QoE to the 5G end-user and to show how to overcome the latest TDD synchronization challenges present in C-Band and n78 networks,” Busch said. “As the public focus on radiation limits is increasing, we demonstrated how to perform validation testing to make sure that 5G emissions stay below the limits.”

Additionally, the webinar covered: essential KPIs, test techniques using state-of-the-art tools, code selective EMF, network synchronization and C-Band and n78 TDD deployments.

The webinar began with technology overview, followed by deployment setups of different antennas, site acceptance and troubleshooting procedures, spectrum analyzer measurements, and signal decoding for LTE/5G.

Over the air (OTA) testing will be crucial for cell-centric troubleshooting, beam-centric troubleshooting and synchronization (time of arrival measurements) troubleshooting, according to Mielke.

“Over-the-air testing gets more and more important, because of the beams inherent with 5G NR,” he said. “We have to measure the beam coverage. We have to measure a specific parameter, and network synchronization is getting more and more important.”

The webinar, which is available for replay, is recommended for mobile network operators, infrastructure vendors, testing service providers, telecom regulators and authorities and verticals, such as automotive, industry, manufacturing, enterprise, and private network operators.
