Room For Office Building, But Not Verizon Tower

The nine-member Moorhead City Council has made its position clear—no Verizon tower on the corner of Main Avenue, in the town that twins with Fargo along the North Dakota-Minnesota border. Despite the city staff recommendation to the council to sell part of a city-owned plot to Verizon for a cell tower site, the council unanimously voted to sell all three parcels to a contract that wants to expand the Heartland Professional Building adjacent to the properties.
KFGO News in Fargo reports City Manager Mike Redlinger says the developer intends to use all 25,000 square feet of the property, leaving no room for a tower. Redlinger told the council: “I have every reason to believe they are not interested in any kind of cell tower.”
