Save the Date: Engineering Automation: A Digital Twin Approach to “Rip and Replace”

Webinar: November 18, 2021 @ 3:00 p.m. ET

The FCC “Rip and Replace” equipment recall mandate creates unique logistical challenges for many carriers. Due to the lack of accurate asset information, carriers must inspect sites to identify the installed equipment to be replaced, evaluate loading scenarios for structural integrity, and then mobilize technicians across large geographies.

While government reimbursement will aid the cost of this initiative, carriers still must grapple with the funding deadline, inadequate tower legacy data, repetitive and redundant site visits, engineering analysis backlogs, seasonal installation windows, and skilled labor shortages.

Join Spencer Crawford-White of Visual Intelligence, Apurba Tribedi of Bentley Systems and John Celentano of Inside Towers for a webinar on Thursday, November 18 at 3 p.m. ET to learn how a digital twin approach can help carriers streamline recall activities by rapidly identifying equipment make and model, automating structural analysis, facilitating drawings and simulations, documenting site modifications and more.

Key insights to be discussed include:

  • How traditional equipment replacement workflows compare to new drone-based inspection complemented by digital twin automation.
  • How to use high-fidelity 3D reality models generated from drones to visually inspect and perform critical measurements.
  • How AI-based Digital Twin analytics can identify equipment, enhance engineering analysis and documentation.
  • How companies who retain a Digital Twin now will be better positioned for future tower updates and modifications.

“Many carriers having to work through the ‘Rip and Replace’ mandates are finding the process to be burdensome,” says Apurba Tribedi, Senior Director at Bentley Systems. “Leveraging OpenTower iQ, Bentley, in partnership with Visual Intelligence, has identified an automated approach that relieves unnecessary strain from this equipment identification and replacement workflow. We are excited to share this with all in attendance during our webinar.”
