Seven Bidders Win a Total of 18 Full-Power TV CPs

The FCC’s recent auction of television Construction Permits (CPs) raised more than $33 million in net bids. Seven bidders won a total of 18 CPs, the agency revealed yesterday. Auction 112 ended on June 15.

TV-49 won the most bids, garnering six CPs. Gray Television came in second, with five CPs. Marquee Broadcasting won three. BEK Sports Network, Marquee Broadcasting, Radiant Life Ministries, Sinclair Television Group and Ventura Media Communications each ended up with one CP, according to the Commission.  

The FCC offered 27 CPs for full-power television stations in Auction 112. The agency conducted a simultaneous multiple round auction, where every construction permit was  available for bid at the same time. Upfront payment amounts varied from $150,000 to $750,000 per license, according to the Wiley law firm.

Down payments (20 percent of the aggregate net amount of the winning bid) are due by wire transfer to the U.S. Treasury by 6 p.m. (ET) on July 8. Those who fail to make the deadline will be considered to be in default. Final payments are due by 6 p.m. (ET) on July 22.
