Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam signed House Bill 2279, a.k.a. the, “Competitive Wireless Broadband Investment, Deployment, and Safety Act of 2018,” on Monday.

“We applaud Governor Bill Haslam for his signature on House Bill 2279 and the leadership of Senator Bill Ketron, Representative William Lamberth and the more than 70 cosponsors of the Tennessee General Assembly,” said CTIA SVP External and State Affairs, Jamie Hastings. “By modernizing state laws for small cell deployment, residents of Tennessee will be ready for 5G and in position to receive the economic and civic benefits of next-generation networks. According to Accenture, the wireless industry will invest $529 million to deploy 5G in Nashville alone, creating more than 6,000 jobs and adding more than $980 million to the city’s economy.”
