Solaris Technologies was founded by telecommunications industry veteran Evelyn Torres, to create mobile telecom towers and connect people who otherwise are not able to communicate. By becoming a trailblazer in the industry, Torres saw her vision come to life nearly a decade ago.
“The objective was to create a solution for situations that arose where a permanent tower was not feasible, but a mobile tower could keep people connected,” said Torres.
In order to make her vision a reality and positively impact connectivity and communication, she took her savings and founded Solaris Technologies. Torres hired the best engineers and designed and patented the ToughTower™, a cell-on-wheels with its galvanized, made in the USA, 2 3/8” OD schedule 40 steel pipe for its 36” base spread. Having the largest base in the industry for COW’s, the towers have the ability to lift payloads up to 1,100 lbs. at the top and provide protection against harsh conditions. Additionally, the ToughTower™ can be assembled and up and running in less than 30 minutes.
At one point in her career, while developing telecommunications infrastructure with Nokia in Latin America, Torres realized that her passion was connecting people. She had seen firsthand the difference that communication can make in people’s lives, even during natural disasters.
“The ToughTower™ is especially impactful during emergency situations. When Hurricane Maria devastated my hometown in Puerto Rico last year, I was witnessing the horrible effects alongside everyone else while trying to restore communication with mobile solutions,” said Torres.
Solaris’ patented design was also rapidly deployed during Hurricane Harvey, where within 48 hours following the storm, the company was delivering ToughTower™ mobile units to South Texas.
