High Plains Public Radio explained that the decision was made very quickly, and without notice to High Plains, by workers at the broadcast tower site after a crew unsuccessfully tried to climb the tower. Because there was so much tower damage, tower owner American Tower decided to dismantle the structure immediately. Unfortunately for the radio station, in the disassembly, the broadcast equipment was significantly damaged. According to the radio station, High Plains Public Radio is in the process of locating a new tower site, making equipment repairs and acquiring a new antenna; however, it will be a while before that process is complete.
