What’s working for Telecom Engineering & Architecture Management (TEAM) during this challenging year? Efficiency, scalability and, automation – the three key elements that have driven the company’s remarkable growth since its beginning.
Pat Lien, Chief Revenue Officer, joined TEAM early this summer. He says he was impressed by the way TEAM’s engineers and project managers automate and coordinate processes, so the operation runs like a “finely tuned racing machine.”
Lien explained that TEAM founders Chad and Amanda Robertson set out seven years ago to provide the tower industry engineering services with accuracy, speed, and affordability – all from a single source.
TEAM is licensed to operate throughout the United States and provides a wide variety of services, all with ‘NTP’ as the end goal:
- Structural analyses for rooftops, towers, antenna mounts and water tanks
- Macro, small cell and fiber construction drawings
- Distributed infrastructure design – leveraging cost effectively collected field data
“Many firms provide quality engineering and, if large enough, can meet the demanding turnaround times of the industry. The real challenge was to do both extremely efficiently and with a cost structure that allows us to provide the best engineering value in the industry.”
Fundamental to the company’s efficiency is its scalable, overhead-saving virtual working model. TEAM streamlined its remote-working practices and built camaraderie between team members long before COVID-19 made Zoom meetings the order of the working day. Core employees and partners work from various locations around the country, so they haven’t lost a step during the pandemic.
A solid roster of independent professionals – all of whom are used to working with each other and with the company’s templates and processes – is one of TEAM’s central strengths. Collaborative staffing flexibility allows the company to maintain consistency when it scales up for larger projects, which can amount to “several hundred drawings and structural analyses a month,” according to Lien.
An investment in automation is another reason for TEAM’s success. Integrating templates with the latest software allows TEAM to standardize information and processes between team members and clients, as well as across platforms.
The company has grown almost exclusively by word of mouth, which means TEAM has a track record of satisfied clients. Lien attributes that to the company’s practice of getting things right from the start.
“We spend a tremendous amount of time on the front end, making sure we completely understand the clients’ requirements,” he says. “Also, we initiate regular updates with our clients, so we don’t go long without confirmation that what we’re delivering is exactly what they need.”
