The Lexington Council Committee in Kentucky were given an update on new tower application requirements before their summer break. When the Committee returns this fall, they will review the changes. Over the last year, there have been changes made to the tower application process, mainly to increase transparently. WEKU-FM reported, “Roger Daman with Lexington’s General Services says technology advances could someday mean fewer towers.  ‘It’s hard to tell with the newest technology, if it’s [going to] require more cell towers or if it’s actually going to require less, because it may be smaller units that are able to be used that what is currently used.’” One of the points in the new application stresses using existing poles and structures for equipment rather than erecting new towers.
