Towers Head to School

The Tucson Unified School District Governing Board unanimously approved lease agreements for cell towers to be placed at three schools in Tucson, Arizona. Each of the leases will bring in $19,000 a year and more than $11,000 of that money will go directly to the schools themselves. Palo Verde, Rincon High Schools, and Utterback Magnet Middle School will all see towers constructed on their property in the near future. Other TUSD schools that have towers used the revenue for equipment, maintenance, technology, club activities, uniforms, field trips, teach training, and transportation. The approvals come only a few months after TUSD Superintendent H.T. Sanchez denied a tower proposal at Collier Elementary School, because parents complained about possible health concerns.
