Township Considers Concealment

Officials in the O’Hara Township of Pennsylvania are considering their concealment options when it comes to new cell towers. An amendment has been proposed to the zoning ordinance asking that these structures be disguised. There are two prominent structures in the town, a church steeple and a bell tower, that are concealed towers and most people don’t even notice. “Most of them don’t even realize there’s a cell tower here,” Cilla Bamford, the church’s finance administrator told KDKA-TV. “You can’t tell from looking at it.” Huck Vogel, who is vice-president on O’Hara’s council supports the concealment of towers as long as they’re done well. “The thing that we’re worried about, I’ve seen pictures of facilities out East that basically look like a water tank sitting on top of a telephone pole, and we don’t want to have that,” Vogel said. (KDKA-TV) The Council will vote on the proposed zoning ordinance changes next month.
