U.S. Cellular Launches Wireless Priority Service

U.S. Cellular has begun using their wireless priority service in its markets. WPS is a White House-directed emergency phone service managed by the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Emergency Communications. This service provides priority access on wireless calls for government officials and emergency personnel when there is heavy network traffic due to an emergency response event or a high level of activity at one time, according to the company. Currently, there are eight carriers that use the wireless priority service, including the four major carriers.
