Verizon Wireless Gets a Second Chance in Twin Falls

The town of Twin Falls believes in second chances. Verizon, who had previously been denied a conditional use permit for a 100-foot cell tower at 3900 North 3400 East in Twin Falls, is getting 45 days to submit a complete application for a new ruling, according to the Twin Falls Times-News.

The initial application was rejected by the county’s Planning and Zoning department for being incomplete. Verizon appealed the decision and last week, the Twin Falls County Commission re-submitted the request for review.

Twin Falls County Commissioner Don Hall said all cell towers under 125 feet tall can get a conditional use permit without going to a public hearing. However, the comments poured in from locals about the visual and audio impact of the tower and its effect on wildlife and property values.

“We’re going to be probably reviewing that in the very near future,” Hall told the Times-News.  Residents or Verizon will still be allowed to appeal the zoning board’s decision.
