The towers of a solar panel company are going to be used for a broadband internet mesh network in western Canada. The company, Three Sixty Solar, announced that Archer Cleantech and Hook’d Broadband Canada have committed to building a broadband internet mesh network serving Kelowna and the South Okanagan region in British Columbia by deploying Hook’d technology on top of Three Sixty Solar Vertical Solar Towers.

The first equipment will be installed in Kelowna next month, and the partners plan for multiple new tower deployments over the coming months. “Building on our existing tower architecture to deliver a full package of necessary utilities is very exciting,” Three Sixty Solar’s CEO, Brian Roth said.

Three Sixty Solar has agreed to create a consortium with Apeiron Energy Inc. and Hook’d to provide battery and backup power generation systems with enhanced power delivery in project applications. Hook’d delivers “Last Mile” broadband solutions, which are frequency and backhaul agnostic. Hook’d can combine multiple signal sources or a single fiber connection to build a network utilizing Three Sixty Solar Towers as a telecommunications platform.
