Wisconsin Man Owes $60,000 After Shooting Cell Tower

A Cumberland, Wisconsin, man still owes more than $60,000 in damages after shooting a gun at a cell phone tower several times. On December 17, 2008, William Lindsley, 33, was charged with felony criminal damage to property. According to the complaint on October 25, 2007, the Barron County Sheriff’s Department took a complaint from Alltel Communications, Inc, regarding a cell tower on U.S. Highway 63, north of Cumberland. They advised that they had some damage to a cell tower, specifically from gunshots or bullets fired into the cables and antenna lines at the tower. Barron County Sheriff’s Deputy Moin responded to the complaint and found over 20 bullet holes and estimated the cost of damages to be in excess of $45,000. At an October 7, 2014, court hearing, records showed that William J. Lindsley had repaid just over $450 in damages. He was ordered to make monthly payments of $40 and his probation was extended for a year.
