The new curriculum is tailored specifically to the use of personal protective equipment, with an emphasis on hazard identification, selection, and proper use of PPE that is paramount to understand to keep telecommunications workers safe while building and maintaining next generation wireless sites. Additionally, the curriculum includes pertinent OSHA information regarding employer responsibilities, worker rights, and whistleblower laws and complaint procedures (including time constraints).
The PPE for Telecom Workers: Hazard ID, Selection, and Use Training material is being developed by NATE due to a Susan Harwood Training Grant (SH-000003-SH3) from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. This complimentary training is provided by a Department of Labor grant.
