CTIA, the U.S. wireless industry association, announced new additions to its board of directors. Sprint President and CEO Marcelo Claure was re-elected as CTIA Chairman. He will be joined by CTIA officers, U.S. Cellular President and CEO Kenneth Meyers as Vice Chairman, Samsung Electronics America President and Chief Operating Officer Tim Baxter as Secretary, and Asurion Chairman Bret Comolli as Treasurer.
“With the global race to 5G underway, CTIA’s member companies are working and investing to ensure that America remains the world’s leading market for wireless innovation,” said CTIA President and CEO Meredith Attwell Baker. She thanked the officers, led by Claure, “for agreeing to stay in place during a pivotal time for our industry.”
The terms of two new board members are effective January 1, 2018:
- Ronald Beaumont, President, West Safety Services
- Charles Townsend, General Partner, Bluewater Wireless
The terms of three additional board members are effective immediately:
- David Christopher, President, AT&T Entertainment Group
- Eduardo Diaz Corona, Chief AMX Coordinating Officer, TracFone Wireless
- Niklas Heuveldop, Senior VP, Head of Market Area North America, Ericsson
